Fortierville recreation centre expanded, to the great delight of the municipality's residents

FORTIERVILLE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 23, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Key community stakeholders have long been looking for a tangible and sustainable way to improve community and recreational infrastructure. The Government of Canada is proud to support projects such as the one from the Municipality of Fortierville, which contribute to the vitality and dynamism of all regions in the country.

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announced that the Municipality of Fortierville has been granted $22,750 in financial assistance, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, to expand the recreation centre, a multi-use community facility.

With the funding granted under the Local Investment Initiative (LII), a component of CED's Quebec Economic Development Program, the Municipality of Fortierville was able to add a community hall, storage areas and an office.

The multi-use recreation centre, which also houses the youth centre, is used for community-organization meetings, family get-togethers, early childhood development workshops and recreational activities for seniors. It features a day camp during the summer and a homework assistance program during the school year.
