WAYNE, PA--(Marketwired - September 27, 2016) - Medecision, the leader in population health management solutions for risk-bearing healthcare organizations, announced that industry veteran Shelby Solomon has joined as senior vice president, Corporate Development and Strategy. Solomon will drive business expansion through partnership and channel development, as well as acquisition of complementary assets and business.

In June, the company announced it has been named, for the second consecutive year, in Healthcare Informatics' 2016 HCI 100 list of the top 100 US-based vendors with the highest revenues derived from healthcare IT products and services earned.

Medecision President and CEO Deb Gage comments, "We are experiencing significant growth as more entities take on risk and use our platform and services to help manage it. Shelby's leadership in helping us identify and execute on alliances and market access strategies is a critical part of our plan to drive consumer insights into optimized interventions."

A long-time trusted adviser to self-insured employers, health plans, government programs, hospitals, physician groups, and integrated health systems, Solomon brings deep experience in healthcare management solutions, health information technology, and professional services and management consulting, as well as strategy and policy development. During his career, Solomon served as President, Government Solutions for OptumInsight, leading a series of successful acquisitions to drive the company's leadership in Big Data and federal contracting; and as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Ingenix/OptumInsight Payer business. He also served in executive leadership roles for emerging and early-stage health IT companies such as Connecture, a health benefit exchange enabler; and was an early member of the executive team at Medstat (now Truven Health Analytics, an IBM company), guiding it to a market-leading data integrity and advanced analytics solution provider.

"While our industry is markedly closer to benefiting from the promise of accountable care and population health, there is work to do to reimagine partnerships and business relationships, ensure data interoperability, and build insight throughout the healthcare value chain," said Solomon. "Given Medecision's momentum, strong leadership, powerful services, and platform, I'm confident we'll maximize the enormous opportunities ahead of us to accelerate support of sustainable value-based care models," said Solomon.

Solomon holds a Masters in Business Administration from Stanford University Graduate School of Business; and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Theory and Sociology from Michigan State University.
