Cask Accelerates Time to Value for Big Data With Microsoft Azure HDInsight Integration

Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP) Now Available on Microsoft Azure HDInsight

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - September 29, 2016) - STRATA+HADOOP WORLD - Cask (cask.co), the company that makes building and running big data solutions easy, today announced integration with Microsoft Azure HDInsight at Strata+Hadoop World 2016 in New York. Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP), the first unified integration platform for big data that cuts down the time to production for big data by 80 percent, has been certified for Azure and is now available on Azure HDInsight.

"Our customers are telling us clearly that they want to accelerate the speed and scale with which they derive insights from their data, so extending their big data initiatives into the cloud is a natural progression," said Jonathan Gray, founder and CEO at Cask. "With CDAP certified to run on Microsoft Azure and available on Microsoft Azure HDInsight, enterprises can rapidly enable data lakes on Azure and the running of advanced data applications in the cloud, drastically simplifying and accelerating time to value from their data."

The 100 percent open source Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP) accelerates time to value from Hadoop through standardized APIs, pre-built templates and visual interfaces. Furthermore, it increases efficiencies through reusable and portable components. CDAP also includes two built-in self-service extensions, which integrate with the rest of the Azure and Microsoft stack. Cask Hydrator provides code-free, drag-and-drop data ingestion and processing pipelines and includes connectors to Azure Storage, SQL Server, other cloud services, and on-premises storage and database solutions. Cask Tracker enables self-service data discovery across all data ingested with Hydrator with automatic metadata, audit and lineage across all databases, connectors and pipelines.

Announced last week (see release), the upcoming release of CDAP 4 introduces Cask Market, a "big data app store." Cask Market offers customers pre-built Hadoop solutions, reusable templates and ready-to-go data pipelines, such as S3 to Azure Storage, SQL Server to HBase for HDInsight, and others, making them productive with big data in minutes rather than hours, days or weeks.

"Microsoft has been focused on making big data accessible to everyone and delivering an enterprise grade managed service in the cloud," said Tiffany Wissner, senior director, C+E, Microsoft Corp. "We're excited to be working with Cask to make our joint customers more productive with faster time to value on their Hadoop and Spark investment."
