JONQUIÈRE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Oct. 19, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Government of Canada recognizes that innovation—be it for the creation of new technologies and processes or for the development of new management models—is essential in today's global economy.

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, today announced that the Aluminium Valley Society (AVS) has been granted $60,000 in financial assistance, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, under the Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP).

The financial assistance will enable the AVS to organize the 6th Aluminium Valley in Business Trade Show in Saguenay on May 23 and 24, 2017.

This event will provide an opportunity for approximately 100 businesses in the regional aluminum cluster to improve their knowledge, demonstrate their know-how, introduce their innovations, forge special ties with major prime contractors and create new partnerships. The event will also foster greater synergy among the various industry players—SMEs, research centres, academic institutions and supporting organizations—, which will be able to look at market diversification potential, identify new opportunities and expand their clienteles.

The trade show, which is in its sixth year, is organized by the AVS, in cooperation with the Trans-Al Network, the Centre québécois de recherche et de développement de l'aluminium (CQRDA) and Rio Tinto.
