SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 27, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Satellite Healthcare today announced that it leads the industry with the highest percentage of top-rated dialysis centers among the 10 largest national dialysis providersi, as indicated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Five-Star Quality Rating System. These results are reflective of Satellite’s mission to continuously make life better for people living with kidney disease by humanizing dialysis. According to the latest ratings, nearly 64 percent of Satellite Healthcare dialysis centers were given a rating of four or five stars. Satellite’s five-star ratings increased 100 percent from last year, with a 30 percent increase in four-star ratings and no one-star ratings for the second year in a row.
Patients with kidney disease desire to live as normal a life as possible. The latest CMS Five-Star Quality Ratings, based on data collected in the 2015 treatment year, show how well a dialysis center delivers on clinical performance and patient outcomes. The ratings take into account seven individual quality measures to give patients and their families a better picture of how the center will improve quality of life and provide quality care. Satellite’s excellent results are a testament to the dedication of its multidisciplinary care teams in humanizing dialysis, allowing patients to live the life they are hoping for.
“Personalized and compassionate patient care is the cornerstone of Satellite Healthcare,” said Brigitte Schiller, MD, FACP, Satellite Healthcare Chief Medical Officer. “The excellent results reported by the CMS Five-Star Quality Rating System reflect the combined efforts of our center staff and physician partners who all put patient care first.”
Satellite Healthcare’s latest CMS Five-Star Quality Ratings include both in-center and home-based dialysis education centers, further strengthening its position as a leader in home dialysis options, training and support. Satellite Healthcare currently more than doubles the national average proportion of patients on home dialysis and recently launched its Re-Imagine Home initiative.
“Being a leader in the Five-Star Quality Ratings highlights our determined focus on delivering personalized, quality care and making life better for people living with kidney disease,” said Rick Barnett, Satellite Healthcare President and CEO. “Through our collective efforts, Satellite Healthcare is accomplishing its mission, and doing it better than ever.”
