Shediac residents now enjoying better traffic flow thanks to government funding

SHEDIAC, NEW BRUNSWICK--(Marketwired - Oct. 28, 2016) - The governments of Canada and New Brunswick are making infrastructure investments that help create jobs, grow the middle class, and support a high standard of living for Canadians and their families.

The Honorable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, and Member of Parliament for Beauséjour, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, was joined today by the Honorable Victor Boudreau, New Brunswick Minister of Health, to celebrate the completion of significant upgrades to Chesley Street. Jacques LeBlanc, Mayor of Shediac, also attended the event.

Shediac has enjoyed significant commercial, industrial and residential growth in recent years and needed this key local roadway to run smoothly in order to keep pace and make way for further development. The project involved extending a portion of the road to reduce congestion and improve driver safety.

The improvements were funded through the Small Communities Fund component of the New Building Canada Fund. The total eligible cost of this project was $4,583,269. The governments of Canada and New Brunswick each contributed up to $1,527,756, while the Town of Shediac covered the remaining project costs.
