BCG Builds Its Private Equity Practice with Two Senior Hires

New Partners John Perkins and Christy Carter Are Latest Additions to Firm's Fast-Growing PIPE Practice

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Nov 2, 2016) - The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) announced today that John Perkins and Christy Carter have joined the firm as partners and managing directors in its Principal Investors & Private Equity (PIPE) practice. Their appointments add a combined 30 years of industry experience to the practice.

Perkins, who is based in Los Angeles, has more than two decades of experience working with financial sponsors. Prior to joining BCG, he was a managing director and head of the financial-sponsors practice at Houlihan Lokey, an international investment bank.

Before that, he was a partner and director at Bain & Company, a management consultancy, where he worked for 25 years. He served in a number of roles, including as head of the firm's North America debt practice and its Los Angeles private equity practice. He also was a leader in Bain's health care and industrial goods practices.

Carter, who is based in New York, joins BCG from CCMP Capital Advisors, a $3.6 billion private equity firm, where she worked for five years evaluating and executing transactions and overseeing portfolio companies in the consumer, retail, and business service sectors. Her investment focus there was on high-growth companies with the potential for further acceleration.

Prior to working at CCMP Capital, Carter spent seven years at Bain & Company, where she advised many private equity clients on potential investments across a wide variety of sectors as well as internal fund strategy. She also counseled industrial and consumer companies, including some of this country's largest retailers, on growth strategy.

As senior members of BCG's PIPE practice, Perkins and Carter will advise global investment firms on due diligence and post-close transformation across sectors and asset classes. BCG's clients include some of the world's largest private equity investors, hedge funds, pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, and real estate and infrastructure funds.

Perkins said, "It is my singular privilege to contribute to serving clients of the fast-growing PIPE practice, and it is my pleasure to be doing so in the company of many dedicated and collaborative colleagues." Added Carter, "I am thrilled to join BCG and am looking forward to lending my experience and expertise to a suite of world-class clients."

Tawfik Hammoud, the global leader of the PIPE practice, said, "John and Christy -- with their track records in advising senior business leaders, coupled with their deep industry knowledge -- are terrific additions not only to our PIPE practice but also to BCG as a whole."

Perkins is a trustee and board member of Echo Parenting & Education. He earned a master's degree in international policy from Stanford University and an undergraduate degree in political science from Whitworth University.

Carter earned a master's degree in business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Georgia Tech, where she graduated with highest honors.
