LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - November 07, 2016) - The hit web series "Jess Archer Versus," in which teen girl detective Jess Archer (Emily Williams) solves mysteries in high school, has made its television debut on Amazon Prime. Jess Archer (Emily Williams) may not be a people person, but she can't resist a mystery. With her best friend, Chase Pollard (Stefan Kumor), she works as a detective-for-hire for any of her fellow high school students who find themselves in a tight spot. Hijinks and pop culture references ensue in this Veronica Mars meets Edgar Wright hybrid. The entire first season of the series is now available exclusively on Amazon Prime.

Written, directed, and created by Amy Taylor, and financed via Kickstarter, the series is actually the further adventures of characters Taylor created for her thesis film at the Ohio University School of Film, which played at Dragon*Con in 2012.

"I love writing the Jess Archer character because she's unapologetic about being a geek, and embracing the things that she likes and believes in," said Amy Taylor. "Girls, myself included, are so often socialized to be nice above all else that it's really freeing to write a character who doesn't care about that at all. Jess is not afraid to speak up for what she believes is right, and that's the kind of female character I want to see more of -- especially now with the craziness of this election season having brought a lot of these issues of sexism, misogyny, and patriarchy to the forefront."

Season one opens with star lacrosse player Troy accused of selling the answers to the mid-term exams. When he begs Jess to help him clear his name, she decides to take the case because she realizes it will annoy her old nemesis, school security officer Turner. Solving the mystery, however, proves much more complicated, and involves more 80s montages, than she ever could have imagined.

"Jess Archer Versus" stars Emily Williams as Jess Archer, Stefan Kumor as Chase Pollard and Joel Stigliano as Officer Turner. "Jess Archer Versus" is produced by Benjamin Guenther, Rowena Pedrena, David Lawrence, and Amy Taylor.
