Ruby Receptionists Strengthens Technology Team: Katharine Nester Promoted to Chief Product & Technology Officer

PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwired - November 08, 2016) - Ruby® Receptionists, the voice of small businesses across the nation, today announced that Katharine Nester has been promoted to Chief Product & Technology Officer. Katharine, former VP of Product, has been with Ruby for 18 months and has been instrumental in the advancement of the company's technology platform. Steve Severance, former Director of Engineering, will now assume the role of VP of Software Engineering.

These new roles signify an evolution in the development strategy and direction of Ruby's proprietary technology, delivered on both the desktop and through its mobile app. Technology plays an ever-increasing role in Ruby's ability to provide its unique personalized, live receptionist service, and the new team structure helps support this progress.

"Since joining Ruby, Katharine has surpassed all expectations and has helped us stake our claim as a technology company," said Jill Nelson, Founder and CEO of Ruby. "The commitment and passion both Katharine and Steve show for elevating the capabilities of our technology, enhances Ruby's ability to create world-class customer experiences. Their contributions help us deliver on our mission to make real and meaningful connections that lay a foundation of trust for our customers to build on, helping grow their businesses."

Katharine's career has focused on working for companies that value and support human connections, including roles in product management at Ancestry.com and AAA. Katharine has a degree in Computer Science from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Oxford University, and brings the perfect combination of passion and experience to lead Ruby's product and service.

"I'm honored to be given the opportunity to help shape Ruby's roadmap and I love the unique challenge it offers. We define success in our technology's ability to bring the human connection in, as opposed to abstract or automate the human element. This stretches you to think beyond the 'cool' factor, to a meaningful and impactful one," offered Katharine. "Over the past year and a half, we've made incredible strides, including a completely re-imagined mobile app with functionality to help customers save even more time in managing their service and following up on phone leads. We consistently work to provide the tools they need to grow and scale their business, not to mention sharing some delight and a lot of human connection along the way."
