Huawei's EMUI 5.0 Ups the Ante on Mobile Security

Global Smartphone Leader Partners with Trustlook to Embed Malware Protection

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - November 14, 2016) - Worldwide mobile device maker Huawei is taking mobile security up a notch in the latest release of its popular Emotional User Interface (EMUI) custom operating system. Huawei has partnered with Trustlook, a next generation mobile security company based in Silicon Valley, to embed Trustlook's antivirus engine in all devices running EMUI 5.0. This includes the newly released Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro, as well as all Huawei devices that are upgraded to EMUI 5.0.

"We're excited to partner with Trustlook to bring enhanced security to Huawei users," said Yanyan Ji, Vice President of Marketing for Huawei Device USA. "Trustlook is a worldwide leader in mobile security, and they are uniquely equipped to address the mobile security concerns of our users."

Huawei is now the world's number three smartphone brand, behind only Samsung and Apple. The company consistently produces high-end smartphone devices which include the consumer-friendly Emotional User Interface. Now, through its partnership with Trustlook, select Huawei customers are automatically protected against malware without needing a separate security app.

"We are thrilled that Huawei is using our next-generation behavior based sandbox technologies to protect their users' mobile behavior," said Allan Zhang, founder and CEO of Trustlook. "We look forward to working with Huawei on additional security projects as they continue to expand internationally and develop their technology."

The timing of the Trustlook partnership is perfect for Huawei customers, as the demand for mobile threat protection has never been stronger. In the third quarter of this year there were 642,217 different malware strains discovered, which is a 54 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The number is expected to grow significantly throughout the rest of 2016 and into 2017.

Trustlook's products protect more than 300M users globally through its integration with leading apps and device manufacturers, as well as its downloadable security offerings from the Google Play store. Trustlook's technology significantly reduces the threat vulnerability window through advanced machine learning and behavioral analysis.
