COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Dec. 5, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF®) continues its 2012 mission to create 1 million more swimmers over the course of 10 years. Tax-free donations can be placed through NSPF's Step Into SwimTM Campaign website: stepintoswim.org/donate.
The Step Into Swim campaign benefits two groups of children: children that cannot afford to learn the life-saving skill of swimming because of their economic or cultural standing, and children who benefit from Angels of America's Fallen (AOAF). AOAF is a non-profit organization that supports children of fallen military and first responders who can then follow their dreams and passion.
Grants were provided to the following organizations during 2016:
Angels of America's Fallen
Florida Swimming Pool Association
Fort Worth Drowning Prevention Coalition, TX
New York State Parks/Heritage Foundation
Redding Aquatic Center, CA
Splash Mid-South, TN
SwimToday by USA Swimming
YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth, TX
In 2016, the New York State Parks "Learn to Swim" program taught 11,773 children throughout the state. The Fort Worth Drowning Prevention Coalition taught 363 individuals, 48 whom were adults, throughout the summer. Splash Mid-South provided lessons to 250 underserved youths in the World's Largest Swimming Lesson and Picnic in Memphis, Tennessee.
This year, the National Swimming Pool Foundation asks that both individuals and companies take the time to make a donation that will help children around the country learn the life-saving skill of swimming, which will be the gift of a lifetime.
"When we deliver water into people's lives, we deliver more life for people," stated Thomas M. Lachocki, Ph.D., NSPF CEO. "People gain more life contentment when they are water competent and all types of water bodies deliver joy and memories. The Step Into Swim Campaign is one way we can help spread the love of water and reduce the fear."
Your donation will help a child live a healthier life. Together as an industry, we can make a difference. For more information, to donate, or to apply for a 2017 grant, visit stepintoswim.org/donate.
About the National Swimming Pool Foundation®
We believe everything we do helps people live healthier lives. Whether it's encouraging more aquatic activity, making pools safer, or keeping pools open, we believe we can make a difference. NSPF® offers products and programs that are technically sound, convenient, and beautifully designed. In 2012, we launched the Step Into Swim™ Campaign, a 10 year initiative to create one million more swimmers. In 2016, to further their mission, NSPF combined forces with Genesis, an educational leader for builders of residential pools and spas. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit located in Colorado Springs, CO., proceeds go to fund research and to help create swimmers. The National Swimming Pool Foundation has been keeping pools safe and open since 1965. Visit nspf.org, genesis3.com, or call 719-540-9119 to learn more.
