CF-18 Hornets to conduct flyby during memorial service for Captain Thomas McQueen in Hamilton


COLD LAKE, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Dec. 6, 2016) - - Four CF-18 Hornet aircraft from 3 Wing Bagotville, Que. will conduct a flyby over Hamilton, Ont. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 during the memorial service for Captain Thomas McQueen, which is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The aircraft will fly over the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum near the city's airport. Captain McQueen, a CF-18 Hornet pilot from 401 Tactical Fighter Squadron, was recently killed in a crash near 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alta.

The four aircraft will conduct the flyby at an altitude no lower than 500 feet above the highest point of their route before resuming a higher flying altitude for their return trip to 3 Wing Bagotville.

Flybys by RCAF aircraft are carefully planned and closely controlled for public safety.
