Napoli Shkolnik PLLC Partner Hunter J. Shkolnik Named as Plaintiffs' Executive Committee in the Talcum Powder Litigation

The firm is representing many victims who used talcum powder products

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - December 08, 2016) - We are proud to announce that Partner Hunter J. Shkolnik has been named as a Plaintiffs' Executive Committee Member in the Johnson & Johnson Talcum Powder Products Marketing, Sales Practices and Products Liability Litigation (Case Number: 3:16-md-02738-FLW-LHG) by United Stated District Judge Freda L. Wolfson of the United States District Court of New Jersey.

The applicant pool for this multi-district litigation was large, however, writing about her appointments, Judge Wolfson noted that the appointees are "qualified to serves in these roles" and that the appointed group would be "efficient" leaders for the litigation. As a member of the Executive Committee, Mr. Shkolnik will continue to investigate and develop the claims while also overseeing the coordination, preparation, and presentation of the necessary legal documentation.

The class action alleges that Johnson & Johnson (J&J) hid its knowledge that its talc-based hygiene products had the potential to cause ovarian cancer. Despite having this information, J&J continued to market, produce and sell their products to consumers. Scientific evidence has suggested the link between an increased risk for ovarian cancer and the use of talcum powder products. The American Cancer Society highlights the ovarian cancer and talcum powder use link on their web site.

"It is a privilege to be appointed to this Executive Committee," says Hunter Shkolnik. "People put their trust in a company who claims to provide safe family products and many of them are paying the ultimate price. My firm and I are ready to fight for the justice the victims and their families deserve."
