MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Dec. 13, 2016) - The Dazmo Group is proud to announce the opening of new film studios, MTL GRANDÉ, to broaden and improve Montreal's offering of film, television, and advertising production services. Located in the heart of the Pointe-Saint-Charles area, these new dedicated facilities for both local and international productions will offer a wide range of complete and integrated services that will further contribute to making Montreal one of North America's leading production destinations. To complete this project, the Dazmo Group, owner of Vidéo MTL, will receive financial aid from three important financial partners: Fonds de solidarité FTQ, Investissement Québec, and Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED).
"We are proud to offer studios that will allow more and more large-scale productions to be made in Montreal. Indeed, the growing number of American and international productions announced by big players like Netflix, HBO, and Amazon are opportunities for Montreal to play an increasingly important role in the North American film market. We want to be key players in helping to double the number of productions in Montreal, and we are convinced that if our industry comes together, anything is possible", declared Mitsou Gélinas, Andrew Lapierre, and Iohann Martin, three shareholders and founders of the Dazmo Group.
Founded in 1997, the Dazmo Group now offers state of the art studios that are among the most spacious in Montreal. This brand new project includes:
"I commend the leadership of the team working on this major project that will attract even more great productions and talents to Montreal. By providing a $2 million repayable contribution to Vidéo MTL, a subsidiary of the Dazmo Group, the Government of Canada is supporting a project that will generate significant economic benefits for the country and create high quality jobs to improve Canadians' quality of life," said the Honorable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED.
"We are very pleased to work with the Dazmo Group on this new project which will attract more American productions and provide more jobs for Quebec film and television workers," said Janie Béïque, Senior Vice-President, Entertainment, Industries and Consumer Goods, of the Fonds de solidarité FTQ.
"By investing in the Dazmo Group, through its subsidiary Vidéo MTL, Investissement Québec wishes to contribute to the creation of an important television and film production headquarters in Québec; these are industries in which the company occupies an enviable position. Our commitment is to strategic funding, complementary to that of the other shareholders; it aims to support an icon of our production industry. These new studios will increase Montreal's capacity to host major local and international productions, which will generate significant economic spinoffs for the city," said Pierre Gabriel Côté, Chief Executive Officer of Investissement Québec.
MTL GRANDÉ is already operational; the new studios hosted a special program that unveiled the official programming for Montreal's 375th anniversary. This 90-minute production, presented on December 11 on ICI Radio-Canada TV, TVA, V, and Télé-Québec, provided a preview of the events to be held for the city's anniversary in 2017.
Finally, further evidence of the studio's great potential in attracting major productions, Paramount Pictures has chosen the MTL GRANDÉ studios for the production of the new Jack Ryan series: a fictional character created by the renowned author Tom Clancy. Production of this series will begin in January 2017.
