United Site Services is Poised to Reduce Petroleum Usage for Its Large Fleet of Service and Delivery Vehicles

Company Aligns Itself with Clean Cities’ National Clean Fleets

Westborough, Connecticut, UNITED STATES

WESTBOROUGH, Mass., Dec. 13, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- United Site Services (USS), the nation’s leading provider of portable restrooms and temporary fence, announced today that the company recently joined the National Clean Fleets Partnership, a public-private initiative within the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program to help large private fleets reduce petroleum consumption. The Partnership provides fleets with resources, expertise and support to incorporate alternative fuels and fuel-saving measures into company operations.

USS provides services to nearly 140,000 customers across the United States through carefully planned aggregate routes. The company’s decision to join the National Clean Fleets Program will positively affect the planning of those routes and lead to reduced petroleum use in service and delivery vehicles. The company has invested several years in industry-leading sustainability practices across all 80+ operations. Partnering with this initiative leverages the strength of nearly 100 Clean Cities coalitions, almost 18,000 stakeholders, and more than 20 years of experience.  United Site Services’ decision to partner with a robust government agency is coupled with the company’s commitment to making sensible choices to reduce environmental impact.

“As an industry leader, we feel a responsibility to work with the Department of Energy to tackle our energy challenges,” commented Jim Cashman, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for United Site Services.  “USS has a sizeable fleet of service and delivery vehicles and, through this partnership, can generate better, more efficient ways to operate. Part of our mission is to have less environmental impact on the local communities we proudly serve. Drawing on the technical expertise and benefitting from best practices will mean that our fleet is actively participating and continuing to lead the way for other fleets in our industry.”

United Site Services has closed several acquisitions over the past year, including Johnny On The Spot, Progressive Waste Solutions, Readilite and Barricade, and NSC Restrooms, growing its already large fleet of vehicles.  The partnership will improve the operations of the new USS footprint and future areas into which the company plans to expand.

Partnership benefits include a single point of entry to Clean Cities, technical assistance that spans the gamut of alternative fuels as well as new technologies, and access to resources that help reduce petroleum use.
