TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - December 14, 2016) - Ontario industries are preparing to participate in a business-critical Forum on cap and trade strategies shortly following the first auction in March. The Ontario Cap and Trade Forum, April 26-27, Allstream Centre, Toronto, will offer program participants essential strategies for navigating market uncertainties and developing successful carbon plans in Ontario.

Organized by Canadian Clean Energy Conferences, the agenda will feature 50+ speakers from industry, government, and finance, offering expert views and updates on key topics for cap and trade participants. Confirmed speakers include senior representatives from Essar Steel Algoma, ArcelorMittal Dofasco, Enbridge, Gaz Metro, Suncor, Glencore, Lafarge, Goldcorp, Ontario Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, International Emissions Trading Association, RBC Capital Markets, and ClearBlue Markets.

"We are excited to bring mandatory participants together with key decision-makers in the Government, legal and finance sectors at this important time in the Ontario carbon market's development," commented Adrienne Baker, Director of Canadian Clean Energy Conferences. "The Forum will provide a platform for industry to share their views on carbon strategies and also get perspectives from experienced participants from Quebec and California."

The Honourable Glen Murray, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, Government of Ontario will provide the opening keynote presentation on April 26. "Ontario's cap and trade program is an effective and affordable way to lower greenhouse gas emissions while giving businesses certainty and maximum flexibility in choosing their compliance path," commented Minister Murray. "Our approach is opening a wealth of opportunities for Ontario businesses in the cleantech sector, and others who want to create projects to offset carbon emissions. As Ontario prepares for its first cap and trade auction in March, I look forward to participating in Canadian Clean Energy Conferences' Cap and Trade Forum in April to talk about the program and the opportunities it brings."

The Forum's agenda focuses on key topics participants have outlined as critical to their success with cap and trade including managing carbon exposure, trading, offsets, and post-2020 program developments. It also offers outside perspectives from market participants from California and Quebec on lessons learned and strategies that can be applied to Ontario companies.

Registration is now open. Visit the event website to view the preliminary agenda and full details.
