Copperstone Resources: Svartliden is most likely part of a large hydrothermal alteration system

Copperstone Resources AB (the Company or Copperstone) is publishing an operational update for Svartliden. During the last months, an international team of geologists have been evaluating a hydrothermal alteration halo that has been identified at Svartliden and is central to the working hypothesis that Svartliden/Eva is prospective for discovery of possible copper-gold porphyry-style mineralization. These observations are significant and constitute necessary, but not sufficient evidence to find blind porphyry-type deposits with depth.

During the period the following tasks have been carried out for the Svartliden area:

  • Approximately 7000m of drill core at Svartliden has been re-mapped.
  • Compilation of a comprehensive database for the entire project area.
  • 2D and 3D analysis of the geology and alteration types.
  • Discussions with another international geological expert, Dr Chris Carlon has been carried out.
  • Mineralogical study of core samples, including x-ray diffraction techniques.
  • Design of drill holes that will interrogate the potential for discovery.
  • Work is ongoing and is expected to be concluded this year.

Preliminary mapping and modelling work indicates that the Svartliden area is indeed underlain by a NE-SW trending boundary between propyllitic and more intensively brecciated phyllic alteration styles.  This trend is coincident with the general strike of the sulphide vein swarms found at shallow depth (10-200m) around Svartliden.  Mapping of phreato-magmatic breccia bodies also indicates a similar trend and dip.  Vector analysis of the modelling suggests that the causative stock is located at depth below the southern area of the Svartliden concession.

It is believed that the Svartliden base metal mineralization is leakage from within a large hydrothermal alteration halo developed around a blind magmatic emplacement.  This halo effect is also envisaged to include the more gold-rich mineralization at Eva.

“It is very satisfying that more and more pieces come together. So far, everything points to Svartliden/Eva being a hydrothermal alteration system. The structured work that has been carried out has led to a re-evaluation of the geological model – which in itself is ground breaking – and can now convincingly explain the potential ore forming process of the Copperstone area specifically around Svartliden/Eva. We also want to highlight the innovative nature of the developing work the Company has been carrying out over the past few years. Thanks to our financial backers, the Company has been able to engage international geological competence, use unique OPTV-techniques and use international competence formineralogical studies. Through this, Copperstone has reached the highest point in the Company’s history and is ready for a successful exploration this winter.” Says Copperstone CEO Per Storm
