TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - Jun 26, 2017) - Echo360, a leading academic video technology provider, announced today the availability of its innovative video and active learning platform hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS) Canada (Central) Region. Effective July 1, 2017, this new Echo360 platform will be operational on the AWS Region in Montreal, allowing Canada-based users to take advantage of the scalability and price performance of advanced cloud computing without storing their sensitive student data outside the country.

Today, advances in education technology are enabling universities to shift from legacy, on-premise solutions designed for enterprise use to cloud-based technologies that are tailored for pedagogical purposes. This new cloud location enables Echo360 institutional partners to easily and effectively scale solutions, integrate with multiple campus-wide systems, and take advantage of new updates and technologies as soon as they emerge, all while ensuring student information is safe and secure as required by Canada's student data privacy laws.

"Lecture capture is nearly ubiquitous at postsecondary institutions, but given today's advanced capabilities, it can do much more than simply capture video," said Dr. Kem Rogers, Professor and Chair of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Schulich School of Medicine at University of Western Ontario. "It's critical that we invest in forward-thinking, cloud-based platforms designed to enhance teaching and learning and enable greater student engagement. Echo360 has helped me to continually evolve the classroom experience, meeting the needs of my digitally native students."

Echo360's shift to the cloud provides colleges and universities with a more flexible and effective video and lecture capture platform, enabling faculty and students to spend more time focused on course content and learning.

"Campuses are awash in video, and it's becoming a fundamental component of teaching and learning. Yet, most universities' infrastructure wasn't designed to support and showcase the evolving role of video in and beyond the classroom," said Fred Singer, CEO of Echo360. "This shift to the cloud supports more agile applications of video, increases reliability and access for faculty and students, and allows for rapid scale across campus. We're excited to partner with forward-thinking universities across the world to ensure that technology doesn't get in the way of pedagogical innovation."
