Solera Health Further Bolsters Executive Management Team with Appointment of Brian Esterly as Chief Operating Officer

Product Strategist and Industry Veteran Joel Meyer Promoted to Chief Technology Officer

PHOENIX, June 28, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Solera Health, a preventive services benefits manager, announced today that it has further strengthened its executive management team with the strategic appointment of two healthcare and IT industry veterans. Brian Esterly joins the company as chief operating officer where he is responsible for servicing Solera’s health plan and employer contracts through a network delivery model focused on exceptional consumer experiences. Joel Meyer, who previously served as vice president product and technology at Solera, has been promoted to chief technology officer where he will lead the development of Solera’s technology platform as the company expands its business model into other healthcare verticals. Both Brian and Joel join an already established corporate leadership team including chief financial officer, Joe Maturo, chief medical officer, Dr. Scott Breidbart, and general counsel and chief compliance officer, Ed Cotter.

Solera’s technology platform creates a marketplace connecting the 86 million U.S. adults at risk for chronic disease or type 2 diabetes with the over 1,000 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recognized digital, national or community-based Diabetes Prevention Programs. The company makes prevention, coping and support services delivered by non-medical providers affordable, accessible and efficient by connecting at-risk individuals with a diverse range of lifestyle modification programs as covered medical benefits. Solera’s national scalable model was designed to consolidate highly fragmented programs and services into one integrated network, allowing health plans and medical providers to increase consumer access and participation while lowering associated costs.

“Both Brian and Joel have proven track records of success in their respective areas of expertise and we are thrilled to welcome them both to the Solera Health executive team,” said Brenda Schmidt, CEO of Solera Health. “I believe their complementary backgrounds, skillsets and talents will put us in an even stronger position to deliver on our mission of transforming the chronic disease prevention and management delivery model as we know it today.”

Brian Esterly brings to Solera more than 20 years of experience working on a broad range of business needs within entrepreneurial health service companies, pharmaceutical / biotechnology companies, health systems, and health insurance organizations. He was most recently responsible for all aspects of service delivery at Aspire Health including care center, field operations, resource planning, and account management. Mr. Esterly’s previous work experience also includes serving as chief business development officer at Matrix Medical Network, the leading provider of in-home assessments and care management. In addition, he has held corporate development roles at excelleRx and PharmaStar as well as a senior manager position at Accenture in their pharmaceutical and health services practice areas. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Villanova University and a Master of Business Administration from University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.

Joel Meyer has over two decades of information technology expertise, and, more specifically, in business-to-business software product strategy and execution. His previous digital health experience of relevance includes serving as the analytics product director at Premier Inc., a healthcare improvement company. Mr. Meyer’s career history also includes positions working in product strategy at Verizon Enterprise Solutions in the mobile health solutions division as well as Intuit Health and Workfront. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.
