NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - August 30, 2017) - Influenster, the leading product discovery and reviews platform, today announced that it has started accepting applications for the Influenster 2017 Scholarship For Women in STEM. Influenster will be granting scholarships to five outstanding female students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a technical field of study.

"As a company taking a stance to change the ratio in tech, the Influenster Scholarship for Women in STEM is our way of not only bringing awareness to the industry shortage of women developers, but to also make an active commitment to empower the next generation of female leaders in tech," said Elizabeth Scherle, Co-Founder and President of Influenster.

To qualify, the applicant must:

  • Identify as a female.
  • Be lawfully authorized to work on a full-time basis in the United States without any form of sponsorship.
  • Be a junior or senior undergraduate student or graduate student enrolled full-time in an accredited U.S. college/university as of Fall 2017 semester. (Those who are not full-time students, i.e. not taking a full course load or taking on a co-op opportunity, are not eligible for the scholarship.)
  • Major in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) field.
  • Have a minimum 3.40 cumulative GPA (will not be rounded) on 4.0 grade scale.
  • Attach a valid resume and college transcript as proof of enrollment.
  • Pass all components of the Influenster application including the written essay topic: "Discuss a tool in the realm of technology that you wish you could reinvent, tweak, or collaborate on and why?
  • Not have been a past Influenster scholarship recipient.

Each scholarship is worth $1,000 and can be used to pay for tuition and/or school expenses. The Influenster 2017 Scholarship for Women in STEM is a donor-advised fund of United Charitable, a 501(c)(3) public charity.
