MEXICO CITY, Oct. 10, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Landstar Metro announces it has opened as a full-service transportation logistics provider offering customers access to truckload, less-than-truckload and expedite third-party capacity solutions in Mexico. The new operation, headquartered in Mexico City, is affiliated with Landstar System, Inc., a worldwide, asset-light provider of integrated transportation management solutions delivering safe, specialized transportation logistics services.
Landstar Metro offers customers intra-Mexico transportation management services, as well as the benefits of being associated with Landstar’s North American freight transportation network and management services.
Landstar Metro commences operations after acquiring certain assets from Metro Logistics, a privately held Mexican carrier, and obtaining the agreement of Metro Logistics to act as one of its key carriers. Since its founding in 1989, Metro Logistics has provided the highest of professional services in transporting and delivering different types of goods.
Landstar Metro is able to provide solutions in conjunction with Landstar’s U.S./Mexico cross-border services at 11 border-crossing points. Landstar has provided Mexico cross-border services for over 20 years. In January 2017, the company opened its state-of-the-art Landstar U.S./Mexico Logistics Service Center in Laredo, Texas. This 31,000-square-foot logistics facility is on a highly secured, 50-acre C-TPAT certified site that includes a 30-bay cross-dock and transload facility, and a custom-designed 120-ton, stand-alone bridge crane for heavy/specialized freight.
