Cutting-Edge Choices Keep EasyPark Cleaner, Greener

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec. 20, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EasyPark, the parking management corporation, continues to lead by example in actions to preserve Vancouver’s natural environment. The acquisition of two new electric vehicles and a change-over to LED lighting at parking lots are two more examples of this leadership.

“Good environmental stewardship is just good business,” says EasyPark CEO Nigel Bullers. “We’re constantly looking for ways to Make Parking Easier for both road users and the environment and making wise energy choices is just one of those ways ”

EasyPark has purchased a SOLO – the single-seat, electric car built by Electra Meccanica of Vancouver. With its range of over 150 kilometres between charges, staff members going to meetings or visiting any of EasyPark’s 95 lots can do so economically and with reduced impact on the environment.

As well, EasyPark has acquired a new e-bike, for enforcement officers to use in patrolling parking lots.

The changeover to LED lighting at EasyPark is approximately 85% complete. The lights provide improved illumination and enhanced safety at night, while sharply reducing energy consumption. In three lots where the new lighting has been installed, consumption has dropped, on average, by approximately one-half since January 2016.

These are just the latest steps in EasyPark’s strategy to “Make Parking Easy” while being easy on the environment. The EasyPark App allows a motorist to find parking available spaces quickly and avoid wasting time and energy searching for one; the FlexPass offers a discount for less-frequent parking users; EasyPark also rents bike lockers, provides EV charging stations and allocates stalls specifically for the four Lower Mainland car-sharing services (Modo, Zipcar, Evo and Car2Go). EasyPark has also been a member of the City of Vancouver’s Climate Smart program since 2013.

For the third consecutive year, EasyPark has been honored with “Best of the Year” awards for Brand Awareness from the International Parking Institute.
