Wall Street Journal Financial Inclusion Challenge Returns for Fourth Year

This year’s competition will showcase solutions to improve the financial health of Americans

NEW YORK, Jan. 09, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Wall Street Journal today announced the return of its Financial Inclusion Challenge, this time focused on issues that low and moderate income Americans face in managing their personal finances and financial health.

The Challenge seeks entries from for-profit and nonprofit enterprises whose product or service is helping to improve the financial health of Americans, including their spending, borrowing, saving, investing and financial planning capabilities. These solutions must be innovative, scalable, sustainable and designed to have a positive social impact.

Prior installments of the Challenge have focused on solutions to the problems of financial access for the poor in the Asia-Pacific region. MetLife Foundation has been the sponsor of the Challenge since its inception.

Entries into the Financial Inclusion Challenge will be accepted through noon ET on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018. A series of video reports will be published on WSJ.com between January and May 2018, including profiles of three finalists in the competition. A panel of independent judges will determine the winner, which will be selected at a Wall Street Journal event in New York during the week of May 7, 2018.

The finalists of the Financial Inclusion Challenge – in addition to recognition at the New York event – will be invited to join the audience at D.LIVE, the Journal’s premiere technology conference, Nov. 12-14, 2018, in Laguna Beach, Calif.
