Los Angeles, CA, Jan. 24, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Los Angeles, Calif. (January 24, 2018) - Haibu, a new children’s entertainment franchise, has announced the launch of an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds for the project with 10% of all proceeds raised going to WildAid, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the illegal wildlife trade.
“I created Haibu because I believe children’s entertainment should serve a purpose. Respect for all animals from a young age can promote resounding change in this world,” said Blake Freeman, author and creator of Haibu. “We have a responsibility to the animals we are speaking for to create a movement that will have a real impact on their lives. We have a responsibility to ourselves to make this the best franchise possible. To the world it may be one animal, but to one animal it may be the world.”
The stories told throughout the three books detail an empowered ten-year-old heroine, Haibu, as she travels the world and becomes the voice against the mistreatment of animals. In the first story, Haibu gets lost on a floating iceberg, traveling farther and farther away from her Icelandic village of Montooka. Haibu eventually ends up in New York City and while trying to find her way home, Haibu realizes she has a unique gift, the ability to speak to animals. After the adventure of a lifetime, she is able to free abused circus animals, garnering mass media coverage which was instrumental in her reconnection with her family. The second and third books detail Haibu’s travels to the Ivory Coast where she saves elephants and then lastly to China and India for a family vacation where she rescues pandas.
The Haibu book series will be released March 1, 2018 in more than 30 countries worldwide. A simultaneous release of a companion mobile app, mobile games and toys will keep children engaged while educating them on animal rights. Haibu will be the most recognizable face and voice for animal rights everywhere, allowing children to develop a universal respect and love for all species.
