Escape and recapture of inmate from Federal Training Centre - minimum security unit

LAVAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Feb. 9, 2018) - Correctional Service Canada

On February 9, 2018 during the 12:15 p.m. count in the minimum security unit of the Federal Training Centre, staff members discovered that Jean-François Bessette was not accounted for.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Sûreté du Québec and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

At approximately 4 p.m., Jean-François Bessette was apprehended by police. CSC is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. He may face new criminal charges.
