CyberPatriot Holds Proof of Concept for New CyberGenerations Program

Arlington, Virginia, UNITED STATES

Arlington, Va., Feb. 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Air Force Association’s (AFA) CyberPatriot program announced today it has held a proof of concept for its new CyberGenerations program, designed to promote cyber safety for mature technology users, which is expected to launch late 2018.

"CyberGenerations is a public program designed to promote cyber safety for seniors in every community,” said Emily Rauer, CyberPatriot’s Cyber Education Manager. “Every day, cybercrime affects millions of people and mature populations are the most vulnerable. CyberPatriot's newest program strives to empower individuals to utilize proactive cyber safety skills in their daily lives. Our proof of concept event at Falcons Landing in Sterling, Va allowed us to see the program in action, presenting new cybersecurity concepts that many senior citizens were previously unaware of."

CyberGenerations not only details the types of compromising cyber events that can happen through a computer but also acknowledges personal identity theft over the phone. This program is unique in that it gives tips and proper practices for various scenarios – offering citizens the skills to protect their personal information.

This new facet of the CyberPatriot program will cover topics including password hygiene, malware, marketing scams and social media awareness.

CyberPatriot, the nation's largest and fastest growing youth cyber education program, is AFA's flagship STEM program dedicated to strengthening cyber skills among students. The program features the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition for high school and middle school students, AFA CyberCamps, an Elementary School Cyber Education Initiative, and CyberGenerations coming soon.
