Infratab, Inc. Expands IP Portfolio With Four Internet of Things Sensor Patents

OXNARD, Calif., May 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Infratab, Inc., a leader in radio frequency sensor solutions for perishables, adds seminal U.S. and European wireless Internet of Things (IoT) sensor patents to its worldwide intellectual property portfolio of radio frequency sensors, software, analytics, and cloud solutions.

Infratab’s patents cover radio frequency IoT sensor tag architecture, in-tag sensor operating environment and application software, condition metrics for real-time assessment of and actions related to the condition of an object, and the methods for setting up, calculating, reporting, storing, analyzing and using sensor data by trading partners in the supply chain and by those concerned with quantifying and monetizing condition. 

Three of Infratab’s patents, US 9,946,904 B2, “Apparatus and Method for Monitoring, Communicating Data Associated with a Product,” dated April 17, 2018 and EP 3 179 222 B1; “Shelf-Life Monitoring Sensor-Transponder System,” dated January 17, 2018 and validated in April 2018 in nine European countries; and Hong Kong patent application 17106058.7, granted April 24, 2018; are continuations of earlier Infratab patents.

Infratab’s Freshtime® radio frequency sensor tags, middleware, and cloud software and analytics, provide monitoring and tracking of perishables by trading partners who make, store, transport, sell, service and use perishables. Its Freshtime metrics, used in-tag, in middleware, and in cloud; enable validated, secure and thus trusted quantification and monetization of condition, whether that of a perishable or a thing.  Freshtime radio frequency solutions, today RAIN-RFID and NFC-based, with low power Bluetooth (BLE) solutions in development, build upon traditional temperature logging conventions—adding “how is it?” to GS1 cold chain “what,” “where,” and “when” tracking of perishables. 

Infratab’s Freshtime Dual RAIN-RFID and NFC sensor tag, in which sensor status can be read by either RAIN-RFID readers or NFC smartphones, is the first and only RAIN-RFID sensor tag. The Freshtime Dual tag enables both high-volume, fast-moving consumer goods companies (FMCG); and low volume growers, small businesses, restaurants, labs and consumers; to get visibility into the quality and condition of the perishables they are handling and using.

This patent addresses perishables which are removed from a monitored environment for a short period of time, and then returned to it. It provides a trusted method for inferring how much shelf life is used while the perishable is out of the monitored environment so that monitoring can continue once it returns.”

Infratab’s Freshtime “Shelfies™,” covered by the fourth patent, and currently in test, are multi-temperature liners for totes, boxes, shelves and pallets. Shelfies track shelf life used while perishables are on the liner in a monitored space, infer shelf life used for the time away from the monitored environment, and resume monitoring when the items re-enter the monitored environment.
