Unacast Strengthens Executive Team with the Addition of Chief Revenue Officer Dan Vanchieri

Proven sales leader to steer accelerated global growth and continued vertical diversification, as company leads the call for radical transparency in the location data space

NEW YORK, June 25, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Unacast, the leading contextual and transparent location data platform, today announced that Dan Vanchieri has joined its executive team as Chief Revenue Officer. The appointment comes just months after the company’s $17.5 million Series B funding round, secured to fuel global expansion and vertical diversification. Vanchieri will lead those efforts through his focus on strategic development in new verticals, growing the Unacast sales team and implementing new processes to further integrate market feedback into services and products to accelerate the company’s robust growth trajectory.

Vanchieri, a 20-year veteran of digital media and technology sales, arrives at Unacast from Collective Bias, a shopper social media company acquired by Inmar in 2016, where he served as the company’s Chief Revenue Officer.

Prior to that, Vanchieri was SVP of National Sales at MyWebGrocer, building and leading the SaaS company’s CPG sales team and playing a critical role in its eventual sale to HGGC. His career has also included sales and management positions with Fox Interactive Media, Microsoft, Claria Corporation and Linkshare corporation.

“Location data is one of the most exciting fields in our era of always-on internet connectivity, but is still an emerging space,” said Thomas Walle, CEO of Unacast. “Dan has a history of helping companies accelerate and expand the size of their market at a rapid pace by educating potential customers across verticals about the many benefits of using Unacast’s transparent location data to build their products and solutions.”

“The digital media landscape is increasingly complex, which means there is great opportunity for companies that sell their products and services in a clear, concise fashion,” said Vanchieri. “Unacast is a great example of this kind of company, taking fragmented human mobility data and creating advanced, but easy to use, data products. The company’s core messages of transparency and simplicity put it in prime position to define the location data space, take lead, and chart their own course in the market.”

In the months following its latest significant funding, Unacast has continued expanding its global presence while maintaining the Nordic values of quality and transparency that have always been at the heart of its business, product development and working culture--during a time when transparency claims are rampant. The latest round of funding has been dedicated to continually improving the company’s overall data volumes and quality, ensuring that Unacast is representing real-world behavior data as accurately and transparently as possible, effectively delivering the industry’s only transparent solutions. The company has invested heavily in product and innovation in 2018, while continuing to make strategic hires to strengthen its leading position.

How it Works
Unacast is a transparent source of high-quality location data with context. Through its network of many location data partners, Unacast’s advanced filtering algorithms ensure all data that ends up in the Real World Graph© is true visits, meaning the company knows both the device and the context of visits. This data is coupled with other location signals to provide the full picture of a user’s behavior in the real world while maintaining and respecting user privacy—enabling Unacast to extract a deeper understanding of the data within seconds and pass that knowledge onto its clients, who use the data to make greater products and better decisions.

Over the past 18 months, Unacast has grown alongside the real-world location data industry. Client adoption has accelerated, and more than 100 location based partners has data partnerships with Unacast. Meanwhile, the company has quadrupled in staff size, on track to grow to 50 employees across the U.S. and Norway by the end of 2018 while maintaining a strong Nordic working culture. This emphasis on people and culture has garnered the company multiple awards, most recently winning the Tech Culture Award from CNET. Founders Thomas Walle and Kjartan Slette were also part of the founding team behind TIDAL, the music-streaming service company acquired by Jay-Z.
