Canada Day 2018 at the Centre de la nature in Laval

A family and festive celebration under the theme of the unity of our country.

LAVAL, Quebec, June 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- This year’s Canada Day celebrations will be taking place at Laval’s Centre de la nature on July 1st. Under the theme All United, citizens will be invited to participate in a day of free family activities.

From noon to 8:30 p.m., Laval families are invited to join in on a number of activities such as street hockey, giant babyfoot, dance, and circus, as well as an activity demonstrating the importance of nature conservation. In addition, there will also be children's makeup and inflatable games.

In the tradition of Canada Day celebrations, new citizens will be sworn-in at 1 p.m. This ceremony will be followed by the cake service in honour of this national holiday, which everyone will be invited to enjoy along with elected officials and new citizens.

The day’s festivities will close with a double concert. Starting at 8:30 p.m., the talented Fanny Bloom will be performing, followed by the multi-talented singer-songwriter Claude Bégin. To end this day of celebrations, everyone is then invited to watch fireworks light up the skies of Laval at 10 p.m.

Canada - All United

This year, the theme of unity will be honoured. Canadians are united by many shared values, such as respect for nature and the arts, a desire for peacekeeping, and a love of sports. During these celebrations, we wish to put forward all the elements that bring us together and make us a strong, proud, and committed community.

An outdoor event and in nature

Canada is internationally renowned for its wide open spaces and breathtaking landscapes. The outdoors and nature are very important to Canadians, and we are committed to helping conserve our environment. The Laval Centre de la nature provides a unique example of revitalizing an urban environment, since it is a green space that was created at the site of a former landfill. Celebrating Canada Day at the Laval Centre de la nature is not only an opportunity for Laval families to enjoy one of their most beautiful green spaces for a day of picnics and festivities; it is also an opportunity to reunite Canadian families around one of our shared values: the defense of the environment. To symbolize this commitment, a tree planting activity will be offered.

Canada Day is not only about instilling a sense of belonging and pride; it is about coming together to celebrate our close communities, and our big Canadian family.
