THE COLLEGE OF HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONS TEAMS WITH SETON

Uplifting Central Texas’ communities through professional opportunities, CHCP and Seton offer tuition discounts and workforce development scholarships, along with open positions ready for professional placement within health care.

Austin, TX, July 11, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The College of Health Care Professions (CHCP) has proudly launched a collaboration with Seton Healthcare Family, a leading Texas healthcare provider. The partnership intends to provide opportunities in healthcare education and potential career development to aspiring health care professionals from within Seton and Central Texas’ underserved communities.

Upon identifying a workforce need for medical assistants and seeing the potential in its local community members, Seton and CHCP have agreed to offer tuition discounts, workforce development scholarships, networking opportunities and community engagement, along with open positions ready for professional placement within Seton.

“Seton is committed to ensuring we have dynamic, skilled professionals to compassionately care for those we are called to serve,” Craig Cordola, president and chief executive officer of Ascension Texas. Seton is part of Ascension, the largest non-profit health system in the U.S. and the world’s largest Catholic health system. “This partnership offers focused support to Central Texans as they not only begin, but also advance their healthcare careers.”

CHCP was founded by physicians, curating accredited programs to ensure students meet the demands of today’s healthcare industry. As a leader in healthcare education and training, CHCP has developed healthcare professionals for nearly 30 years.

“A part of our mission at CHCP is to empower underserved community members with the ability to gain an education and job placement in the allied health care field,” said Sara Rambikur, CHCP Austin Campus President. “This ease of financial burden, combined with our wrap around services that supports the needs of this population in areas with things like childcare, transportation and mentorship, truly enables students to focus on their health care education and seeking stable, professional careers.”

CHCP will offer a ten percent tuition discount to current Seton employees seeking to further their education for career advancement. CHCP also commits $50,000 for 25 scholarships to new students within Seton’s Central Texas community outreach, which consists of 11 counties. Additionally, Seton has committed $10,000 to match five of those scholarships.

CHCP and Seton will also partner to work alongside community groups to spark discussion of education and allied health career options to identifying prospect candidates likely to be successful hires for Seton. CHCP students and graduates will be given the opportunity for externships and hands on experience through Seton.

“This type of collaboration is exactly what we strive for when serving our local communities,” said CHCP CEO Eric Bing. “Offering a professional, hands-on learning environment, and then the potential for direct job placement at Seton, can truly change someone’s life.”

Recently, CHCP has expanded its community outreach offering similar agreements and scholarships with private entities such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas, Austin Independent School District, and various other schools.

“This effort opens the door for the underserved communities in many areas to a chance at a professional and rewarding career in health care,” added Bing.

Eligibility requirements of the workforce development scholarship include;

  • Must be a first-time enrollee in CHCP
