No Barriers Warriors and Rise Broadband Announce the ‘No Barriers Warriors Medicine Bow Range’ Team

Veterans with disabilities join expedition to stretch goals, face adversity and work to lead/serve others

Fort Collins, CO, July 30, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- No Barriers and Rise Broadband have selected the team of veterans with disabilities to participate in the 2018 No Barriers Warriors Medicine Bow Range veteran’s expedition. Rise Broadband is proud to sponsor its fourth annual No Barriers / Rise Broadband Expedition which is scheduled to take place in the Snowy Range in Colorado’s Medicine Bow National Forest from September 21–28, 2018.

A team of nine veterans and four leaders will participate in an all-expenses-paid journey to Colorado’s largest state park for five days in the wilderness. The expedition includes off-site preparation and a 30- mile wilderness trek designed to push participants physically and mentally while providing a foundation for stretching goals, facing adversity, and leading/serving others. The program concludes with a team service project alongside Rise Broadband employees.

The 2018 No Barriers Warriors/Rise Broadband team includes:

• Jeffery Amos – Burns, Wyoming
• Jeffrey Hanselman – Earlham, Iowa
• Guadalupe Hernandez – Missouri City, Texas
• Brian Hughes – Colorado Springs, Colorado
• Victor Hyser – Stillman Valley, Illinois
• Jesse Luera – Killeen, Texas
• Andrew McDaniel – Lubbock, Texas
• Brian Williams – Cooper, Texas
• Amanda Vrba – Niwot, Colorado

Participants in all No Barriers Warriors programs face challenges ranging from emotional and physical trauma to impaired senses and chronic pain. Some experience combat flashbacks and survivor’s guilt, while others continue to struggle with readjusting to civilian life. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) are common injuries among the warriors. Despite these and other issues, the veterans chosen for the Medicine Bow Range program believe in their ability to overcome barriers. They also realize the expedition represents more than a climb; it represents the opportunity to impact the world as a leader who serves.

John Toth, No Barriers Warriors director and Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, knows that veterans of all abilities can do amazing things in their community when given the chance. He is excited to help this group of veterans dig deep in order to realize that they are stronger than the barriers in their way.
