Paul Arnold, MD Offers Minimally Invasive HIFU Prostate Cancer Treatment in Greater Tampa Area

HIFU, or high intensity focused ultrasound, is a non-invasive, outpatient, radiation-free treatment for prostate cancer

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 06, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HIFU Prostate Services, LLC, the leading provider of HIFU technology to physician practices in the United States, is pleased to partner with Paul Arnold, MD of Palm Harbor, Fl. to make HIFU available in the greater Tampa area.  Dr. Arnold treated his first HIFU patients in the area last week at BayCare Trinity Surgery Center and Florida Hospital North Pinellas

Dr. Arnold has been practicing urology for over 18 years with an interest in prostate cancer, specifically in minimally invasive treatment options such as HIFU. This partnership with HIFU Prostate Services means he can offer localized prostate cancer patients another effective treatment option, but with less side effects than surgery or radiation options.

“I have worked with prostate cancer patients for nearly 20 years and have seen everything in the way of treatment options and related side effects,” said Dr. Arnold.  “That is why I am so excited to be able to offer men a less invasive treatment option with significantly reduced side effects.”

HIFU, cleared by the FDA for prostate tissue ablation in October 2015, is a non-invasion treatment that uses sound waves to heat and destroy tissue in the prostate, including cancerous tissue. It is a one-time, outpatient procedure that allows men to return to their normal lifestyle within a few days.

“Dr. Arnold has been working with HIFU patients for many years, and already knows he will make an excellent partner for HIFU Prostate Services,” said Jenny Robeson, chief sales officer, HIFU Prostate Services. “He knows how to select the best candidates for HIFU and is experienced in introducing new technologies to patients.”

Dr. Arnold will be using the Sonablate device to offer HIFU. It is the most precise HIFU device for prostate cancer available and the only device that can deliver a completely customized treatment for each patient. The Sonablate helps physicians locate the precise location of nerves that preserve potency to help avoid them and keep rates of incontinence low.

In July 2017, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued a Medicare code that may help some patients cover part of the cost of the HIFU procedure. Additional information about reimbursement may be found at https://www.hifuprostateservices.com/reimbursement.
