Mist Collaborates with VMware to Create a Seamless Wireless LAN (WLAN) / Wide Area Network (WAN) Experience

Mist’s AI-driven WLAN Combined with VMware NSX SD-WAN by VeloCloud Provides Unique LAN, WAN, and Cloud Visibility and Facilitates Troubleshooting into User Network Experiences

CUPERTINO, Calif., Aug. 07, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mist, a pioneer in self-learning networks powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), announced interoperability between Mist Learning WLAN and VMware NSX SD-WAN by VeloCloud, bringing AI automation and programmability to the Wireless LAN (WLAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN). Using the two products together helps enhance user experiences, creates better visibility, and enables cost-effective network troubleshooting. This announcement also furthers the shared vision of using open APIs to automate key IT infrastructure services for ease, scale, and functionality.

Using the Mist products together with NSX SD-WAN by VeloCloud, provides IT administrators end-to-end visibility and insight into user, application, and network performance for LAN and WAN. In addition, it uses AI to automate key tasks, such as event correlation and anomaly detection, for fast and easy fault isolation and remediation, trend detection, and predictive recommendations to avoid problems before they occur.  Open APIs enable key data to be easily shared between systems (and with other systems) and provide a fully programmable platform by which IT administrators can create custom workflows and other automation procedures.

Mist and VMware deliver the following advantages with the solution:

  • Application performance assurance from WLAN to WAN to cloud
  • AI-driven operations for improved efficiency and cost savings
  • Simplicity and SaaS agility by leveraging a modern cloud with open APIs

“Users require a seamless and reliable experience from devices, across the wireless LAN and to the applications they access over the WAN,” said Jeff Aaron, vice president of marketing at Mist. “This has been difficult for IT to achieve as mobile devices, users, and applications are growing in quantity and diversity, and both data and people are increasingly distributed. We are pleased to work with VMware to address this challenge, delivering end-to-end visibility for IT administrators and exceptional network performance for all users.”

“We are excited to work with Mist to create a seamless and reliable WLAN/WAN experience,” said Steven Woo, senior director, product management, VeloCloud Business Unit, VMware. “Interoperability like this takes enterprise networking to the next level and delivers greater operational efficiencies, simplicity, and consistent application performance across the entire network from the WAN to the LAN.”
