Kobrand Corporation Named Exclusive U.S. Importer for Italian Premium Wine Producer, Villa Matilde

PURCHASE, N.Y., Sept. 18, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kobrand Corporation, a leading wine and spirits importer with a distinguished portfolio of hand-selected brands from around the world, is proud to announce the addition of the renowned Villa Matilde to its iconic Italian wine portfolio. Effective immediately, Kobrand is the exclusive U.S. Importer for the Villa Matilde portfolio and is responsible for all sales and marketing activities in the United States.

Villa Matilde is known for producing premium quality classic Campania wines. Founded in 1961 by Francesco Avallone, the estate is recognized as a pioneer in the region for having revived the ancient Falerno grapes, wiped out by phylloxera in the late 1800s. Avallone’s team developed 20 original, premium clones of Falanghina, Aglianico and Piedirosso in 1965, and Villa Matilde’s first official vintage was released in 1976. Over its 57-year history, the winery has committed to producing quality wines while having a low impact on the environment. Today, the estate produces zero greenhouse gas emissions and is 100 percent estate grown and bottled. The result is a portfolio of wines that is internationally recognized for outstanding quality.

"As a family-owned company, Kobrand strives to partner with other high-performing family-owned businesses who share our commitment to building quality brands for the long-term,” said Robert T. DeRoose, Kobrand Corporation’s President and CEO. “We know the Avallone family and their portfolio will have great success in the U.S. as we move forward. It is an honor to add Villa Matilde to our collection of iconic Italian wines and I look forward to a long, thriving partnership together.”

Salvatore Avallone and Maria Ida Avallone, Villa Matilde Owners and Managing Directors, also shared their excitement for the partnership stating, “We are thrilled to join forces with Kobrand Wine & Spirits. Our two companies have similar values and our wines have found the right home within Kobrand’s fine wine portfolio. Our dedicated teams, working hand in hand, will enable us to reach our full potential in the U.S.”

Villa Matilde has two production facilities, one in the Falerno appellation and the other in the prestigious Irpinia DOCG of Taurasi, Fiano di Avellino, and Greco di Tufo. The winery also has four estate vineyards: Parco Nuovo and San Castrese in Caserta, Rocca dei Leoni in Benevento, and Altavilla in the Province of Avellino.
