Crown Relocations and Move for Hunger Team Up to Fight Hunger

Domestic and International Moving Services Leader Offers Whitepaper About Incredible Partnership

NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Crown Relocations (CR) the world-renowned provider in domestic and international moving services—is pleased to present its whitepaper titled “Food Rescue: Crown Relocations and Move for Hunger team up to provide over 500,000 meals,” about its partnership with Move for Hunger. Move for Hunger has a network of relocation companies that is committed to rescuing unopened, non-perishable items from people who are moving and delivering it to food banks and pantries across the United States and Canada.

Over 42 million Americans struggle with hunger or are food insecure. While there is plenty of food to feed those in need; part of the problem is that approximately 40 percent of food in the U.S. goes to waste. Crown Relocations uses its large and distinguished presence in the moving industry to gain unique access to thousands of cupboards, shelves and pantries filled with items set to be thrown away during the moving process. The whitepaper discusses how these two organizations teamed up to ensure that perfectly good food ends up on the tables of those in need rather than in the landfill.

“Our customers love knowing that this excess food is not going to waste,” said Tony Valentine, vice president of operations, North America. “There are a lot of moving parts when relocating and finding the nearest food bank, finding out when they are open and dropping the food off often gets overlooked. We facilitate this with total convenience for our customers and the food banks.”

Thus far, this partnership has resulted in the donation of more than 632,700 lbs. of non-perishable food for those in need—which equals 527,250 donated meals since the partnership began in 2015. Now, Crown Relocations can proudly claim helping Move for Hunger feed families all across North America in cities such as Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Houston, Toronto, Los Angeles and Miami.

“To see the dedication of our socially-conscious teams all over the nation help so many who simply need a little extra help is truly amazing,” said Jennifer Harvey, regional managing director, North America. “We are committed to keeping food rescue a part of our culture—even providing bonuses as incentives for our staff to stay involved. We look forward to our continued partnership with Move for Hunger and our local food banks in the years to come and hope to make a difference as we assist in eliminating this epidemic.”

With a focus on sustainability, community and social responsibility, Crown Relocations has made food rescue a core pillar of its business and culture. Learn more about the program and company goals in the new whitepaper.
