Champion Petfoods Donates 10,000 Pounds of Dog and Cat Food for Cincinnati Rescue Robbed of Resources and Restocks Emergency Shelters and Food Pantries Struck by Hurricane Florence

EDMONTON, Alberta, Oct. 01, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- When word traveled fast that All Dogs Come From Heaven, a local Cincinnati rescue, was robbed of more than 10,000 pounds of pet food, along with medications and other critical supplies, Champion Petfoods took action. Champion Petfoods makes the award-winning ORIJEN and ACANA dog and cat foods.

All Dogs Come From Heaven is an all-volunteer rescue that works to pull dogs from local county pounds and kill shelters, with the goal of placing pets in their forever homes. The organization places 400-700 animals in new homes annually and maintains an outreach program through food donations, including supplying bulk food in natural disasters. After two devastating break-ins in two weeks, hundreds of dogs and cats have been left desperately in need of help.

Champion Petfoods is donating 10,000 pounds of food to aid the organization and is also providing resources for the many emergency shelters, long-term evacuees and food pantries that have been left devastated by Hurricane Florence. In collaboration with Restore Global, a non-profit organization that helps to provide functional and logistical services to non-profit partners, Champion Petfoods has delivered a full truckload of dog and cat food in Charlotte, North Carolina from its award-winning DogStar Kitchens in Auburn, Kentucky, coming to the aid of the communities in need.

“We are pleased to be able to support our partners at All Dogs Come From Heaven during this critical time and feel fortunate that we can provide assistance to those affected by Hurricane Florence,” said Frank Burdzy, Champion Petfoods’ President and CEO. “As passionate Pet Lovers, Champion continuously strives to serve as a trusted partner to fellow Pet Lovers and to the communities who devote their lives to ensuring all dogs and cats thrive.”

Champion’s shipment of its ORIJEN and ACANA pet foods arrived in Charlotte, North Carolina in the wake of the aftermath of Hurricane Florence on Monday, September 24th. In addition to the 10,000 pounds of pet food provided by Champion, All Dogs Come From Heaven received 2,500 pounds of food donated by the local Cincinnati community.
