SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 04, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Degreed has enhanced its lifelong learning platform with the launch of Skill Review, a lightweight tool that uses machine learning to quickly, yet reliably measure a person’s mastery of any skill in 30 minutes or less. This, along with the company’s easy-to-use Skill Ratings and robust, proprietary Skill Certification technology, gives Degreed the most complete set of solutions for quantifying people’s skill sets.
Seamlessly embedded in Degreed’s learning experience, Skill Review combines an adaptive, online assessment, advanced data science, and a standardized, 8-level rubric grounded in research by Lumina Foundation to rate people’s expertise in nearly 1,500 technical, functional or interpersonal (“soft”) skills. Unlike conventional assessments, it measures skill through behaviors and outcomes, not just testing knowledge or counting time spent.
“Skill Review enables businesses to easily create structured data on their workforce’s skill sets — data that’s interoperable between learning, HR and other systems,” said Chris McCarthy, CEO of Degreed. “Our customers can use that data to rapidly benchmark strategic capabilities, to prioritize investments in talent acquisition, training and leadership development — or even to inform and automate HR processes, like performance management, individual development planning, and career pathing.”
Research shows the highest-performing organizations (those who outperform their peers in revenue growth, profitability and innovation) are significantly more likely to link their talent strategies to their business strategies.1 In practice, however, that is getting harder and harder to do. Five years ago, 58% of CEOs said they were concerned that a lack of critical skills was threatening their business. Now, 80% say it’s a risk.2
“Our clients, and the rest of the labor market, want more than just a Netflix-inspired learning experience,” added Jonathan Munk, General Manager of Degreed’s Skills Measurement group. “They’re looking to use data and technology to continuously improve their people’s skills, and to evolve their businesses. To do that, they need valid, actionable feedback that helps visualize gaps, and shows them where to invest in their most valuable assets: their people.”
