TORONTO, Oct. 18, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sunwing is adding Miami to its roster of destinations for the first time this winter. Travellers can take advantage of convenient, direct departures from Toronto on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays starting December 1, 2018.

Home to a packed year-round calendar of world-class entertainment, sports and cultural events, Miami offers travellers a sunny getaway with plenty of beaches, numerous restaurants and shopping opportunities. The city is also the perfect base from which to explore Southern Florida or embark on a cruise.

Vice President of USA and Cruises, Reg Mendes, explained that the move to add services to Miami this coming winter was a result of consumer demand, “Miami is a hub for beach and city stays and much more. This new flight service will offer our customers from Toronto more ways to explore Florida together with even more convenient cruise package options.”

President and CEO of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, William D. Talbert, added, “We are excited to welcome Sunwing Airlines to Greater Miami and the Beaches. The added air service into Miami further strengthens the destination’s accessibility from Canada, which is Greater Miami’s top international inbound market.  We look forward to continuing to support Miami International Airport in efforts to promote Sunwing Airlines’ newest routes into the Miami market.”

Sunwing offers cruise packages with Norwegian Cruise Line and MSC Cruises sailing from Miami (including convenient transfers from the airport to nearby PortMiami) that offer a wide range of Caribbean itineraries.  Customers could also choose a cruise & stay package and enjoy a vacation in Miami or Fort Lauderdale before or after they sail.

For customers looking to explore on land, all Miami vacation packages include a car rental. In Miami, travellers can opt to stay at Residence Inn Miami Sunny Isles Beach, which offers spacious suites with fully-equipped kitchens and easy access to Sunny Isles Beach, shopping and golf.  Located right on Sunny Isles Beach, Sole on the Ocean features an oceanfront pool and is close to popular restaurants and activities.

Canadians who visit Fort Lauderdale, a short drive from Miami, can stay at Ocean Sky Hotel and Resort, which enjoys a beachfront location near the historic Las Olas Boulevard or Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort which features an ocean view rooftop pool bar and family-friendly amenities including a supervised kids club.

All Sunwing packages to Florida include return flights on Sunwing Airlines where passengers can sit back, relax and enjoy a delicious buy on board selection of light meals and snacks with choices inspired by Food Network Canada Celebrity Chef, Lynn Crawford. Vacation packages to Florida include air, accommodations and a mid-size rental car. Cruise packages include pier transfers to PortMiami, cabin accommodations and meals. For those not booking a package with a hotel or cruise, fly/drive specials are available to explore southern Florida.
