Latin America’s Fast Growing Hospitality Brand For Digital Nomads Plans 100 Locations by 2020

LONDON, Oct. 31, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Selina, the Latin American hospitality brand that’s building a global ecosystem for digital nomads, has announced the opening of its first European location in the heart of Porto, Portugal. The latest opening represents the first of many planned across Europe, Latin America and the United States, with the fast-growing startup also set to land in Miami later this year.

Curated by local artists, creatives and tastemakers, the 60-room property combines beautifully-designed accommodations with co-work facilities, wellness, and cultural programming driven by local art, food, design and music. Located at Rua das Oliveiras, nº61-65, the property will feature private and unique rooms and suites (ranging from EU$90-190 per night) and shared dormitory-style rooms (starting from EU$19 per night), in addition to two new food and beverage concepts and expansive indoor and outdoor gardens.

Selina’s communal spaces are designed to bring the local community together with travelers from all over the world. The cultural agenda at Selina Porto will include live concerts, art exhibitions, thematic dinners, DJ performances and more. Programming will be curated by the property’s Experience Board, a collection of local artists, designers, foodies and musicians who have been involved in developing the Selina Porto concept and will continue to inform the authentic experiences available to guests.

“This is a defining moment for Selina, as we open the doors to our first European location after exceptional growth throughout Latin America,” said Rafael Museri, Co-Founder and CEO of Selina. “What started as an idea to bring together people of different backgrounds and budgets to connect with communities around Latin America is now growing into a platform for adventurous, ambitious travelers to experience the world.”

“We’re excited to bring Selina’s unique play, work and stay model to Europe, and Porto -- a city brimming with a buzzing cultural scene and warm people -- is a fitting place to plant the Selina flag. It’s set to be the first of many Selina locations arriving in new corners of the world, as we build a global platform from which people can live, work and explore around the world.”

With a design-centric, technology-first and socially-minded approach to travel and communities, Selina’s 29 beach, jungle, mountain-side and urban locations combine creative accommodations with expansive co-work spaces, wellness, surf clubs, music programming and more, to offer the ultimate in community and connectivity for travelers. With expansion plans underway in Europe and the United States, Selina plans to grow to 100 locations by 2020.

“The number of travelers looking to combine work and play around the world will continue to grow, and we’re thrilled to be at the forefront of this movement, providing a place for digital nomads to stay, work and play -- whether for a long or short time -- all over the world.”
