Owkin Names Michaël Pressigout Executive Vice President of Global Solutions

Michaël Pressigout, former CIO of the Pasteur Institute, brings decades of experience in innovative data infrastructure and bioinformatics research.

NEW YORK, Nov. 09, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- OWKIN today announced the addition of Michaël Pressigout as Executive VP of Global Solutions. OWKIN builds machine learning technologies to augment medical research and enable scientific discoveries. Mr. Pressigout brings to the company his extensive experience in managing complex data systems and creating sustainable, secure infrastructure to facilitate effective data sharing across organizations and projects. Mr. Pressigout will focus on growing OWKIN’s network of partners and clients while implementing innovative data infrastructure solutions and deploying machine learning platforms at scale in hospitals, research centers, and pharmaceutical companies across Europe and the US.

“Michaël Pressigout is one of the most accomplished figures in data and information science within the medical research community,” said Thomas Clozel MD, co-founder and CEO of OWKIN. “Our mission is to enable medical breakthroughs with AI by empowering hospitals to turn real patient data into valuable knowledge. A secure, efficient data infrastructure is paramount to achieving that mission and Michaël will be instrumental in helping us grow our business and expand our network of world-class research institutions.”

Prior to joining OWKIN, Michaël Pressigout served as Chief Information Officer of the Pasteur Institute, one of the world's leading research centers, for seven years. Mr. Pressigout led the Information Systems Department, managing sensitive data and infrastructure for 130 research units and close to 2,500 people, including 1600 scientists. He also was tasked with leading the design and implementation of the Bioinformatics center and community for the Parisian campus and Pasteur Institute’s international network. Prior to his tenure at the Pasteur Institute, Pressigout managed strategy and organization at Deloitte for several years after beginning his career as a consultant for Accenture. Mr. Pressigout is a graduate of engineering school ENSEEIHT and holds executive certificates from the distinguished international business school, HEC and the prominent French engineering school, MINES ParisTech.

“Secure, effective data sharing is critical for driving innovation in medical research. I have spent years working to enable digital transformation at leading research institutions, and I’ve seen firsthand just how difficult it is for institutions alone to overcome the barriers of time and cost associated with building internal machine learning and data capabilities,” said Michaël Pressigout. “OWKIN is taking a unique and sustainable approach to solving this dating sharing problem by leveraging federated learning, empowering hospitals, and reducing data security risk. I’m eager to help drive growth at OWKIN and work with their network to enable more institutions to tap into the power of artificial intelligence.”

Michaël Pressigout’s arrival comes on the heels of significant company growth and momentum in 2018, including master collaboration agreements with Inserm, APHP and Cleveland Clinic. OWKIN’s network reaches top-tier hospitals and research centers in Europe and the US, leading research projects on oncology, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases.
