Trifacta Launches Serverless Data Preparation Service on Amazon Web Services

Expanded support follows a record year on Amazon Web Services for Trifacta, with 4X year-over-year growth in customers and the achievement of two AWS Competencies

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 28, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Trifacta, Inc., the global leader in data preparation, today announced the addition of a serverless data preparation service on Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS). Based on Amazon Elastic MapReduce (Amazon EMR), the fully managed service allows organizations to quickly deploy Trifacta while eliminating the need for customers to manage their own AWS infrastructure. The serverless architecture was designed to allow customers to dynamically scale computing capacity to match the shifting requirements of different workloads, which, in turn, can increase efficiency and lower operational costs.

Trifacta’s customer portfolio is growing rapidly, with over 4X growth in the number of customers deploying Trifacta on AWS in the last year, such as Deutsche Börse and Munich Re. Trifacta has been working with AWS since 2013. Trifacta products Wrangler Pro and Wrangler Enterprise are available on AWS Marketplace and AWS GovCloud (US) to support government agencies, in addition to Trifacta managed deployments on AWS. The addition of a serverless data preparation service on AWS allows Trifacta to best meet enterprises’ evolving data needs in the cloud.

“Investing in Trifacta was a strategic choice for our business as the number and diversity of data sources has expanded,” said Joe Schmid, CTO, SymphonyRM. “With Trifacta deployed on AWS, our data scientists and analysts are able to more efficiently access and wrangle this data, while also benefiting from the agility the cloud provides. The close collaboration between AWS and Trifacta is integral to our business, and we’re excited to see it further develop with the launch of a serverless data preparation service on AWS.”

The explosion of cloud computing has led to a massive uptick in the movement of data management and analytics workloads to the cloud. As a result, organizations are experiencing a growing need for data preparation in the cloud to ensure their data is well-structured and clean for use in analytics. Trifacta supports a broad range of AWS storage, processing and analytics services including Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Amazon Elastic MapReduce (Amazon EMR), Amazon Redshift and Amazon SageMaker, among other services. Trifacta’s ability to publish clean data to AWS services like Amazon SageMaker, a fully-managed platform that allows developers and data scientists to quickly and easily build, train, and deploy machine learning (ML) models at any scale, and Amazon Redshift allow users to more efficiently prepare data to help expand ML initiatives and accelerate time to insight, all while reducing costs through elastic scalability.

“Machine learning and analytics continue to be two of the fastest-growing segments on AWS,” said Rahul Pathak, General Manager, Amazon Athena and Amazon EMR, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “Well-structured, clean data is essential to utilizing Amazon SageMaker, Amazon EMR, Amazon Redshift, and other AWS services to successfully run these workloads. We’re excited to be working with Trifacta and help customers derive more analytic value in less time.”

In addition to its support for AWS, Trifacta has achieved AWS Data & Analytics Competency status, as well as AWS Machine Learning Competency status. To qualify, Trifacta demonstrated proficiency in its ability to allow customers to transform and prepare data for analytic use as well as enable ML and data science workflows. Trifacta is also attending AWS re:Invent 2018, where it is offered a Trifacta-focused workshop, “Democratize Data Preparation for Analytics & Machine Learning,” which highlighted how Trifacta leverages Amazon SageMaker.

“As AWS expands its services to meet the rising demand for data management and analytics in the cloud, the demand for clean, well-structured data becomes more pressing,” said Adam Wilson, CEO, Trifacta. “Data preparation is still one of the biggest bottlenecks in any data initiative, and with the advent of cloud environments, this pain grows exponentially. We’re excited to meet this growing demand for data preparation in the cloud by expanding our relationship with AWS and offering a native serverless architecture on AWS.”
