Buxton Dental Practice Wins DODC Outstanding Design Innovation Award

Dr. Nicholas Roy of Saco River Dentistry reveals the details that helped make his cosmetic dentistry practice the winner of the DODC Outstanding Design Innovation award

BUXTON, Maine, Dec. 11, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 2018 Outstanding Design Innovation award, one of the premier honors given out in the Dental Office Design Competition, goes to Saco River Dentistry, a cosmetic and restorative dental practice in Buxton. Director Nicholas Roy, DMD and his team of cosmetic dentists and hygienists are thrilled with their success in creating an inviting, functional, and forward-looking space for patients.

Run by the American Dental Association with help from Wells Fargo Bank, the Dental Office Design Competition, or DODC, seeks to identify dental facilities that put patient needs first while balancing aesthetics and the requirements of an advanced practice. Outstanding Design Innovation is reserved for the practice that demonstrates a commitment to utilizing state-of-the-art techniques, which are designed to enhance the patient experience, provide improved results, and minimize waste. In total, the DODC reviewed the practice for its use of dental technology, dental equipment, ergonomics, and aesthetics.

These same considerations were foremost in the mind of the Buxton dentist and his design team when developing plans for the practice. From start to finish the design and construction of the practice took just over two years and involved as much insight from architects as from existing patients, ensuring the outcome was not only functional and beautiful but also a place locals would look forward to visiting for their dental care.

Saco River Dentistry presents a home-like appearance in rural Maine that belies the dental innovation found inside. Dr. Roy wants patients to feel confident and at ease when seeking treatment, whether they are interested in dental implants, laser therapy, or another procedure. And just in case someone needs a bit more help relaxing, the practice offers sedation dentistry techniques that can soothe anxiety more quickly and effectively than ever before.

This desire to build the practice philosophy into the very structure of the facility is precisely what the DODC seeks to recognize, and Dr. Roy and his team are proud their practice can serve as an example to others across the nation.
