Independent Cannabis Retailer mīhī enters Ontario Government lottery with expressions of interest

TORONTO, Jan. 08, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- mīhī, the new customer centric cannabis retailer, has entered the AGCO’s lottery process by successfully submitting expressions of interest. With over 40 committed locations already secured and a commitment to building relationships in every community, mīhī is well positioned to achieve its goal of building one of Ontario’s largest cannabis retail platforms.

The provincial government has stated that this lottery is a temporary measure and it fully intends to return to the previously defined competitive private retail system as soon as increased cannabis supply comes online.

“This lottery is one step in our journey to become the leading independent cannabis retailer in the province of Ontario. We’ve built an experienced retail team that can deliver a unique brand experience in a new industry sector. We’ve also secured a dedicated team of commercial real estate professionals to execute on our store build-out,” said mīhī CEO Tom Dyck.

While this temporary lottery may only deliver one mīhī store license, the company fully intends to apply for up to the maximum 75 store licenses and build a province wide retail network in line with Bill 36 and the enabling regulations that outline the retail framework in Ontario.

mīhī, pronounced “mee hee” is a Latin word meaning “for me”. The retailer has invested in extensive customer focused research to ensure it meets its mandate of delivering the most customer centric retail experience in Ontario. The mīhī team is planning to deliver that through a personalized needs-based approach, a carefully curated product selection and a welcoming atmosphere.

“We believe in the importance of community,” added Dyck. “For us, this means both building positive relationships in the neighbourhoods in which we operate, as well as the community of entrepreneurs in cannabis.”

mīhī is proud to be the first retail store to join the OICE (Ontario’s Independent Cannabis Entrepreneurs) and will feature craft producers and cannabis entrepreneurs in its stores while actively seeking out and welcoming smaller, craft cannabis entrepreneurs. mīhī stores were designed by award winning Shikatani Lacroix.
