Hillard Heintze Acquires Strategic Policy Partnership, LLC and Expands the Global Scope of its Law Enforcement Consulting Practice

Joining the Firm is Robert Wasserman, Who is Recognized Worldwide as an Expert in Policing with Extensive Experience Across the U.S., Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and Middle East

Chicago, Jan. 31, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hillard Heintze announced today that it has acquired the global advisory firm Strategic Policy Partnership, LLC, founded and led by Robert Wasserman, one of the most trusted and experienced senior experts in policing in the world today. Strategic Policy Partnership assists police and government agencies with policing strategy development, performance improvement, personnel selection, application of technology and policy development. The acquisition complements and expands Hillard Heintze’s rapidly growing Law Enforcement Consulting practice.

“Bob’s team – and particularly his experience, clients and ongoing engagements – are very closely aligned with the advisory services we are providing to federal, state and local government and police leaders across the United States,” says CEO Arnette Heintze. “We view bringing his team aboard as an opportunity to enhance our global relationships and capabilities to foster police reform and law enforcement transformation around the world – as well as expand our operations in the greater Boston area.”

Throughout his career, Mr. Wasserman has been a strong advocate of constitutional policing and has worked with police agencies worldwide to address issues that impact the legitimacy of police in the eyes of the community. Recently, he served as the Transition Coordinator for Police Commissioner William Bratton at the New York Police Department, as a Senior Advisor during his recent tenure there, advising him on reform-related priorities impacting the NYPD. Mr. Wasserman currently serves as a Fellow at the Policing Project at the New York University Law School. He has had an extensive career in law enforcement and served as a senior executive in several large American police agencies, including Boston and Houston. He was the Director of Public Safety for the Massachusetts Port Authority. He served as Chief of Staff of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy and was tasked to Bosnia following the war, as both Deputy Commissioner of Operations and Commissioner of the United Nations International Police Task Force, where he oversaw the restructuring of that country’s police.

“I am thrilled to see Bob joining the team at Hillard Heintze,” says Mr. Bratton. “He has been a mentor and close friend for over 40 years. He is an accomplished law enforcement strategist and planner who has supported me for many years – in Boston, New York and Los Angeles among other places. I’m not sure there is anyone more committed to bringing about best practices in policing today.”

Since establishing its Law Enforcement Consulting practice in 2010, Hillard Heintze and its team members have assessed, monitored and advanced policing practices in more than 50 cities throughout the United States – including San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Lancaster, Denver, Boulder, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Milwaukee, Baton Rouge, Miami, Baltimore, Newark and New York. In 2016, Hillard Heintze was awarded an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract by the U.S. Department of Justice with a total contract ceiling of $50 million to change the ways that U.S. law enforcement agencies build community partnerships, instill trust and improve transparency in accordance with the pillars outlined in the Final Report of the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing.
