Food Network Star Chef Palak Patel Appointed to Rescuing Leftover Cuisine Board of Directors

NEW YORK, Feb. 14, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC), a mission-based company dedicated to eliminating food waste and feeding the hungry and homeless, today announced the company has appointed Chef Palak Patel to its Board of Directors.

Chef Palak is a Food Network Star finalist and winner of famed Food Network shows including Beat Bobby Flay and Chopped.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Palak to our Board,” said Robert Lee, CEO of Rescuing Leftover Cuisine. “Her culinary aptitude, business acumen and non-profit experience has been pivotal in her ability to foster relationships and community change and makes her a perfect fit for Rescuing Leftover Cuisine. Palak’s brand, unique skill set, insight and counsel will be invaluable as we look toward continued growth.”

Before joining RLC, Chef Patel was an active member of Project Sunshine, where she raised over $100K with annual gala contributions. In addition to her board service of nonprofits, Chef Patel serves and supports Food Bank NYC and No Kid Hungry. She also serves as brand ambassador for BOU Brands, LLC and Clif Bar & Company.

“Food insecurity is a solvable problem in New York City. We produce enough food to feed families many times over,” continues Mr. Lee. “Palak brings a much-needed strength to RLC for business partnerships and corporate initiatives based on her strong relationships with several high-profile organizations.”

Palak received her culinary degree from the prestigious International Culinary Center (ICC) in New York.

ABOUT RESCUING LEFTOVER CUISINE

Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) helps the hungry by rescuing leftover food and donating it to homeless shelters. Our goal is to become the world’s most widely used solution for companies and individuals to eliminate food waste in their communities, making food rescue sustainable and universal. Our mission is to make food hunger a thing of the past.

Unlike existing food rescue organizations, RLC has no minimum amount required for food that is donated. Transportation is crowdsourced to the public through a web application coded on Ruby on Rails. This technology allows for a flatter organization with less bureaucracy. Since RLC does not use trucks and vans, it is a greener organization than most.

Since inception, RLC has rescued over 1.7 million pounds of food, fed over 1.2 million meals to the hungry, and prevented over 270 tons of carbon emissions from being emitted into the atmosphere. RLC has expanded into 16 cities.
