Entrepreneur and Former NBA Champion Dahntay Jones Joins Pearl Homes as Managing Partner and Vice President

Jones partners with developer Marshall Gobuty to achieve a vision for eco-friendly, high-tech residential developments

SARASOTA, Fla., Feb. 27, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Pearl Homes, a developer of sustainable smart home communities and leader in LEED-certified residential development, today announced that Dahntay Jones, a former NBA player and member of the 2016 world champion Cleveland Cavaliers, has joined the Company as Managing Partner and Vice President.

In this position, Dahntay will lead the integration of state-of-the-art smart home technologies into modernized, energy efficient community developments, providing Pearl Homes residents with a healthier, more environmentally friendly living experience. He will play a key role in supporting regional development in Florida for Pearl Homes’ two recently announced developments before expanding nationally to address increased interest from home builders and potential partners.

Dahntay attended Rutgers University and Duke University before he was drafted in the first round of the 2003 NBA draft. He played professionally for 14 seasons before winning an NBA world championship alongside Lebron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. He recently completed Harvard University Business School’s NBA: Crossover into the Business program in 2017, and continues to volunteer his time in cities around the U.S. providing partnership and mentorship to program supporting minorities and youth. He is married to Google executive Valeisha Butterfield-Jones, is a father of five children, and currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.

“I am honored to join Marshall and the Pearl Homes team in their efforts to make smart, sustainable housing a standard, not just a luxury, and look forward to leveraging my understanding of advanced smart home technologies to help create the blueprint for affordable, eco-friendly living,” said Dahntay Jones, Managing Partner and Vice President at Pearl Homes. “These communities are designed to be more than just a neighborhood of beautiful homes; they represent the future for which we believe people will want to live in – one that combines sustainability, style and comfort.”

“I’ve known Dahntay for fifteen years and realize the unique and innovative skillset he brings to our team and community,” said Marshall Gobuty, President of Pearl Homes. “Technology plays such a significant role in everything we do, from our award-winning LEED design and efforts to achieve net zero energy independence, to the comfort we establish for our residents through the incorporation of popular smart home technologies. Dahntay’s visionary approach to utilizing these cutting-edge technologies will help us stay ahead of the innovation curve with the two developments we’ve already begun to build, as well as in future communities.”

In Spring 2019, Pearl Homes will offer its first official Community, Hunters Point Pearl Homes & Marina, with 86 solar-powered and zero energy rated smart homes available in the seaside fishing village of Cortez. The Company will also soon announce its second largest community to date, a 720 single- and multifamily Zero Energy Pearl Homes for lease. The development will feature an eco-friendly community with flexible leases and independent, co-living, and co-working spaces for the active 55+ market.
