Danforth Advisors Expands Into New and Fast-Growing Life Science Markets, Adds Regional Leadership

Pittsburgh and Dallas join growing national footprint

SOMERVILLE, Mass., Feb. 28, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Danforth Advisors, LLC, the life science industry’s leading resource for operational accounting, finance support and CFO services, today announced newly-established operations in Pittsburgh and Dallas – including C-level advisory and resources spanning the full breadth of a flexible, outsourced finance team. This follows the firm’s expansion into the New York metropolitan area, Philadelphia and Boulder, where the need for experienced life science executives is increasingly outpacing supply.

Danforth’s growth strategy and services in the two new locations will be led by:

  • Rob Dickey, Managing Director, and Gregg Beloff, Founding Managing Director – each with close ties to the Pittsburgh region and decades of experience leading finance and operations for life science companies, both private and public, ranging from early-stage development to commercial operations.
  • Mariam Morris, Managing Director, Dallas – a new addition to the Danforth team with more than 25 years of experience leading finance and strategic planning for life science companies, both on the corporate and consulting side. She has served as CFO of multiple public and private life science companies and brings extensive knowledge of the local life science landscape to the role. Mariam will additionally oversee growth opportunities for Danforth in the greater south region.

“Outside of the traditional life science clusters, there’s a growing wave of research, innovation and investment happening in cities such as Pittsburgh – where the infrastructure is being built to help breakthrough science reach commercialization. A key piece of the equation is talent; experienced life science executives who can establish and expertly steer operations as start-ups mature,” said Larry Miller, Managing Director of Life Sciences at Innovation Works – the largest seed stage investor in the Southwestern Pennsylvania region. “Attracting and retaining this experienced talent is imperative to leverage the wealth of technology generated here.”

Similarly, Texas is fast becoming a leader in life sciences – home to the world’s largest medical center, 11 medical universities and $5.3 billion in annual research & development expenditures. The state ranks third nationally in the number of clinical trials underway, according to the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.

“Having advised over 350 life science companies since our inception, we have amassed the deep expertise required to lead or support finance teams through all phases of growth, from early R&D stages to clinical trials and beyond,” said Gregg Beloff, Founding Managing Director, Danforth Advisors. “With the addition of Pittsburgh and Dallas, we are now in six regions. Each of these regions is led by experienced and locally-based leadership and resources that will help grow the exciting and untapped potential of these life science markets.”
