Drones for Good Video Contest. With student video entries detailing how learners would use drones to better themselves, their communities and society as a whole, PCS Edventures is pleased to announce the selection of five outstanding participants who will receive their share of over $15,000 worth of educational drones, equipment, accompanying curriculum and more.

The winners are:

• Grand Prize: Ammel M. - Dearborn Center for Math, Science, and Technology, Michigan
• 1^st Prize: Pablo V. - New Canaan High School, Connecticut
• 2^nd Prize: Madeline G. - Dearborn Center for Math, Science, and Technology, Michigan
• 3^rd Prize: Nick P. - Kentucky School for the Deaf, Kentucky
• 4^th Prize: Joseph M. - Dayton High School, Kentucky

By submitting a 60-90 second video answering the question, “how would you use drones for good?” students ages 13-18 had a chance to win a personal drone and a Discover Drones learning solution for their school. A total of 64 student videos were submitted. After an initial round of public voting with 14,096 ballots cast, the top 15 contestants moved into a final round where a panel of STEM and drone judges from PCS Edventures, Thrust-UAV, Fat Shark RC Vision Systems, Kodak, and FrSky scrutinized each entry on Originality, Solution, Creativity, and Quality, choosing the five student videos that ultimately provided the best drone solution.

The Grand Prize winner, Ammel M., a student at the Dearborn Center for Math, Science, and Technology in Michigan walked away with a personal Riot 250R Pro sport drone and a Discover Drones Classroom Package for their school. Tooba Mansoor, the science teacher assisting with the Grand Prize entry had this to say about the contest, “I am humbled to receive the Grand prize and 2nd prize from PCS Edventures for Dearborn Center for Math, Science, and Technology of Dearborn Public Schools. When preparing for this contest, my students and I focused on important current global issues and came up with solutions using Drones. The contest provided an opportunity for students to generate creative ideas and use critical thinking and reasoning skills to solve problems. I am very excited to integrate a Discover Drones Classroom Pack in Honors Biology, AP Environmental Science, and other Science course curriculums. I also plan to share these prizes with other teachers. This will help impact more students to apply their knowledge using drones and make connections between concepts across different disciplinary boundaries.”
