Nasdaq Announces End-of-Month Open Short Interest Positions in Nasdaq Stocks as of Settlement Date February 28, 2019


NEW YORK, March 11, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of February 28, 2019, short interest in 2,355 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 7,689,702,073 shares compared with 7,638,386,123 shares in 2,360 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of February 15, 2019. The end-of-December short interest represents 4.12 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.75 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 958 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 830,606,162 shares at the end of the settlement date of February 28, 2019 compared with 830,779,245 shares in 958 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 3.20 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.63.

In summary, short interest in all 3,313 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,520,308,235 shares at the February 28, 2019 settlement date, compared with 3,318 issues and 8,469,165,368 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 4.01 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 3.60 days for the previous reporting period.
