Jebbit Launches First-of-Its-Kind California Consumer Privacy Act Resource Center for Marketers

The new website enables brands to prepare now for the arrival of the new data regulations in 2020

BOSTON, March 12, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Jebbit, the world’s leading declared data platform, has announced the launch of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) Resource Center, a website offering articles, guides and quarterly action plans to marketers preparing for the new law which will come into effect on January 1st, 2020. The CCPA, which provides California consumers with new data privacy rights, will impact an estimated half a million U.S. companies.

Passed by the California legislature in June 2018, the CCPA gives consumers the right to request data which companies have collected about them, the right to request that their data be deleted, and the right to opt out of the resale of their data. The regulations apply to all companies doing business in California that meet one or more of three defined thresholds, even if the company is not physically located in the state. Jebbit’s CCPA Resource Center includes a useful quiz to determine whether or not a company will be impacted by the new regulations.

Jebbit’s CCPA Resource Center offers a detailed roadmap for marketers to understand and plan for the effects of the new policy. Extended blog posts help explain proper compliance with the CCPA, as well as how to effectively adapt marketing activities in response to new restrictions. Users can subscribe to receive a series of quarterly action plans and updates  leading up to the adoption of the regulations in the first quarter of 2020.

This robust educational resource, launched well in advance of CCPA’s in-market deployment, comes on the heels of the difficult transition European marketers have navigated following the enactment of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union in May 2018. According to a recent Experian survey, businesses are still struggling to adopt the tenets of GDPR — with only 36 percent currently in compliance with the law.

“The CCPA will have a significant impact on the work of marketers not just in California, but around the United States,” said Jonathan Lacoste, President and Co-founder of Jebbit. “Careful preparation—starting now—will be key to ensuring that companies comply with the new laws and avoid penalties once they come into effect. Given our extensive experience at the intersection of consumer data and digital marketing, Jebbit is well positioned to share our expertise and help lead marketers through this difficult transition period.”
